I am looking into becoming a legal nurse consultant.....does anybody know how available the cases are out there?

Is there much competition? Can this be done full time...is there enough out there to keep me "busy"?

I am looking into legal nurse consulting because I believe it is my next step in my career, and happened to read that you can make $100-$150 an hour....this would be nice! Is this a realistic salary, or only the special few who get this type of compensation?

Hi ABCRN84!

I took Vickie Milazzo's course last May when she was here in Chicago. I am currently working on my 2nd case for a partner in one of the largest Med-Mal firms in Chicago (who I met utterly by chance). I currently am billing for $125/hr. I suggested this amount when asked how much my services cost because I was too intimidated to say $150/hr and it was my first case. However, my client never even paused when they said, "Ok, how much is the retainer and to which address would you like me to mail your check and the records?" I'm very new at this myself, but even I have learned the hard way that the key to success is: NETWORKING-NETWORKING-NETWORKING!!

BTW, I see that your post in several years old now. Did you ever start working as a nurse consultant? Would love to share stories with people about steps to success or pitfalls to avoid!
