I should have told you before the conference to mentally jot down (and, later, on paper) special parts of your conversation with the attorney so you could recall later when you phone them/send a note. Sorry, but forgot that part.
Thanks sirI. You did tell me on our phone call to jot down info on the attorneys, which I did.

Also, I should have mentioned that we did the drawing at the conference, so the attorney knows that he won and has the gift card already.

Good. I'm glad I went over that part. LOL!!!

Go ahead and f/u with a phone call about a week later and see if you can set up an interview. But regardless, do send a note of congratulations and that it was a pleasure to meet him.

Default Finding Conferences to Exhibit
I looked at my state's trial lawyer association for upcoming conferences as potential exhibits. I saw nothing past or present that seemed to indicate exhibits would be present. Where are the best locations for finding places to exhibit? I would love to jumpstart my business with some exhibiting. I welcome any suggestions. I am sure others are wondering the same.

thanks.

You should contact them either via email or telephone. In my state, I exhibit with them every year. Also, check with your state's Bar Association. Again, email or phone contact.

And, check out this thread on exhibiting tips: http://allnurses.com/forums/f29/atte...ce-321686.html

Hi, all.
I thought to do the exhibiting thing also, to jumpstart my business. So,
I recently called the state bar with ?? regarding exhibiting; left a message as only a machine answered, again!!!!. After almost 3 weeks I have not heard a word from the lady. My plan is to call her tomorrow and see if I would be able to find a human behind the phone! Any other ideas?

Another question. On average, what would the cost be to exhibit?

Thanx for all the valuable info!

Hello, Beeties,

I sent email to my contact person and she sent the info I needed right away (see your state Bar's website). Later, I contacted via telephone to finalize and/or ask questions.

As for expense, it depends upon what type of exhibit you have and what you want to display, giveaways, etc. You can invest the minimum and try to cut corners (and it will appear this way to your potential clients) or several thousand dollars.

Your state Bar's contact person will be able to answer your questions on what expense can be expected for the convention itself including paying convention exhibiting fees. Fees for my state's Bar convention were approximately $650.00 (just to exhibit w/o any extras involved).

Other items that you might require. Your contact person can detail these (not all inclusive):

  • Electricity
  • Power/extension cords
  • Floor covering/carpet
  • Padding for the floor
  • Extra tables, chairs
  • Extra skirting
  • Internet connection during the convention
  • Accessory items
  • Table top covers
  • Clean up during and after the convention

Your next consideration will be the actual exhibit. You can start out with a table top display. Approximate prices range from around (includes all graphic work):
  1. Size 4 feet - $400 (for minimal graphics without a display carrying case; you need the case)
  2. Size 4 feet - $700 (this is a nice display with lights, carrying case, etc.)
  3. Size 6 feet - $1400 (with detachable graphics, carrying case, lights, etc.)
I suggest going with #2 for your first exhibit. You need to verify with your convention contact person what size you can comfortably utilize in your booth space before you actually order the exhibit.

You can always upgrade to a larger exhibit later as you wish and/or as your business evolves.
*Remember, you can still utilize the smaller one for other conventions/conferences/presentations to clients at their firm office if/when you do upgrade to a larger one. So, investing initially in the smaller exhibit is never a wasted expense.

Sizes for larger exhibits and approx. pricing which usually includes graphics and carrying case:
  1. 8 feet: Approx. $1900.00
  2. 10 feet: Approx. $2300.00
  3. 20 feet: Approx. $3300.00
Of course, there are other types of exhibits which can range from $5000.00 - $10,000 and up. It all depends upon what you want to invest and which company you select to do the work.

You will need the graphic artwork dimensions to submit to the company for them to produce the graphics for your exhibit panels/tradeshow display.

If you or others have questions, please respond here and I will assist you.

Good luck!!!!!

Hello, mea26

Contact your state's Bar Association and your state's Trial Lawyers Association. They will be able to give you information about when their conferences/conventions are.
