Hi Kerrybrown05, I would be happy to help you in any way I can with your transition. Well, if you're wanting to move to New Orleans be prepared to spend a little...housing for some reason seems to be pricey..but there are some inexpensive areas that are nice and trasnporatation in N.O has never been a problem for me..theres metro, ferries, train cars. I will be relocating too but from Baton Rouge, La. We'll be moving in the Kenner, La area which will ~20mi from tulane which is in downtown N.O.

If have any questions just let me know!

Congrats kerrybrown! I've been in Nola for about 5 years now. We don't live right near campus either. It will be about a 15 minute drive for me. Let me know any questions you have and I'll respond the best I can!

If everything works out for my situation, then I will be re-locating to the New Orleans area as well. I am from the Walker area.

Hi guys, so I am starting to look into how I am going to fund this program. I have a full time job now and will be quitting right before classes start so I need to figure out my financial situation fast! I have completed all my financial aid information, but I know I will not be eligable for a pell grant because I have a bachelor's degree already. Looking at other blogs I have seen many people mention "WIA", which is apparently a possile source of funding? Does anyone know anything about this program or how it works? I also heard mention of a "Hearts Grant"? If anyone is familier with these options please let me know. I spoke with Ms. Bodley today and she informed me there would be no stipends offered for our class. I am also trying to get in all my information for the Disadvantaged Student scholarship. If anyone has any suggestions, please share!

Also KerryBrown, the airport code is MSY, located in Kenner, LA. I am willing to help you on your transition as well. Please let me know if I can offer any advice.

Ok, nevermind about the HEARTS grant. I spoke with a woman with that program and she said they just helped fund their last class at OLOLC which was the West Jeff class that is just now graduating. But, if anyone hears anything about WIA or any other options, please share. Thanks!

Hey everyone I just found this site and I have also been accepted to OLOL accelerated program at tulane starting in january 2010. I'm nervous about what to expect when classes and clinicals start. Any information and advice from nurses who have already gone throught the program would be wonderful.

I am in a similar situation ccrows8. I emailed just about everyone at OLOL to see how much it is all going to cost. So far...tuition is going to be about $14,100
Spring 20 credit hours $6950.00
Summer 9 credit hours $3271.25
Fall 10 credit hours $3850.30
Books are going to cost $1000-1600 (used-new), 2 sets of scrubs (minimum) with white shoes and lab coat to be a little less than $200, and that doesn't even include the cost of all the pre-clinical requirements.
The max one can receive in student loans is $12,500 and the max for the economically disadvantaged student scholarship is $3,000.
