Hello everybody,

Just recently moved to this area. Started orientation at SEMC on Monday-it's been LONG & painful! I feel like I am back in nursing school with the mean nursing instructor-quizzing us on models of care & nursing theorists. There is SOO much repetition & the daily focus is about magnet status, what it means, how great St. E's is, the emphasis on pt satisfaction. That's great but when I hear it over and over it makes me wonder..... Can anybody offer any input??

Hello,

I worked at St. E's but not as a nurse, as a HUC in the tele unit...Magnet status was obtained a few years back when I was there. What unit are you on? I've often heard from new grad nurses that the orientation was long and more painful each day with hours of classroom time and teaching. Pt satisfaction is a HUGE deal at SEMC and your yearly March bonus will depend on lots of things, customer service being one.If you have any specific questions I can TRY to answer them, as I said, I was a HUC, now I'm a HUC at CCHMC. (Cincinnati Children's) starting my last year of nursing school in Sept.....
