Making the jump from NY to KY

U.S.A. Kentucky

I'll be at my new job orientation by Aug,13,2008. I am curious about everything. I'm two years out of nursing school. I have an Associate in Applied Science, and my R.N. NY Nursing License. I have been fortunate to work in a wonderful hospital in Upstate NY. How are the working conditions in KY? Are there nurses unions? I'm leaving here because the winters are too severe, and the property prices are too high.

I'm curious as to where you landed here in KY. We moved here 2 years ago, from CO but originally from Southern NJ. Very few union hospitals except for a few in Eastern KY. We are in South West KY. I hope you get a favorably response, me not so much. I'm starting to travel in 2 weeks. The attitude by staff and managemet got to be too much for me. Anyway, I'm sure that different hospital will have different response. Just be aware that the pay stinks in the south and beneits are not so great.
