I am taking the PAX-PN exam later this month and want to attend Galen's night LPN program.

Does anyone know if, as a part of the LPN program, you become IV certified? Is that something I need to do separately, or does it roll in with the program? Thank you!

If you are in KY, IV certification is generally not part of any nursing program, and certification is not needed to insert peripheral IVs. However, you will receive IV insertion training in the RN portion of the program at Galen.

Hi, I need basic information of what to expect from Galen, interested in attending school and was told about entrance exam PAX PN. Personally had never heard of this test, and was wondering what it consists of and if there are books similar to study prior to. I would appreciate it,thnx.

The Pax-PN test is a 4 hour nursing entrance exam that consists of three main areas: verbal skills, including word knowledge and reading comprehension; mathematics, including basic calculations, word problems, and incorporating algebra, geometry, conversions, graphs, and applied mathematics; and science, examining chemistry, physics, biology, human anatomy, human physiology, and health. There are study guides that you can purchase, however I just went to my local library and checked out a good called "The Study Guide for Nursing Entrance Exams." I really liked the book and it prepared me well for the PAX-PN.
Your results are mailed to you within one week.

Daydreams:

The main thing is to not stress too much over the PAX-PN. If you give yourself some times to prepare it is pretty simple.
The good thing about testing for the evening program is as long as you score over a 92 then you will have a spot. Be sure to get all of your paper work done and I would go ahead and apply for your high school transcript to be sent to galen, that way they have it ready.

Good luck and let me know how it goes!
