IUS also takes Galen's RN degree towards it's RN to BSN online program. I am probably just going to stay with Galen until I get my RN. Then I will probably do the IUS thing, it is much cheaper than Phoenix or Wesleyan.
When I went to JCC, I could not believe the people in my classes. Walking in and out of class, talking on their cell phones, etc. Maybe the nursing program is better though.

What do you think of Galen. Are you going to go to Ivy tech only because it is cheaper or are you not really crazy about Galen? I was going to go to Ivy tech, but my husband is going to go to nursing school with me and he does not have any pre-reqs. So Galen will work out better for both of us to go together. Do you know what kind of wait you will have going from Galen lpn into Ivy tech Rn program? Just weighing all of the options! We also live in Indiana; right down the street from Ivy Tech Sellersburg.

Thanks

Okay guys I have an absolutely ridiculous story: i went to visit Galen today (I loved it, yay!!) and I was informed I had to take the CPAT because it's been over 5 years since I took my ACTs. I just got my bachelor's degree last year, so I definitely haven't been out of school for very long at all; do you think I should study for the CPAT very thoroughly?

Anyway.... here's the ridiculous part:

As i was driving home, my study guide that the woman at Galen gave to me for the CPAT flew out my window because I was driving with my windows open hahahaha. I know, I know!

I live about an hour away from Galen, and I'm wondering if I should drive back to get the study guide? Or could someone here scan it for me, or give me the information on it? I would be forever grateful

By the way, I take the CPAT on June 25th so I have 9 days to brush up and study.

If you have any info on studying, please just reply or PM me. Thanks yall

umm.. the money thing is one issue. I havent had a horrible experiance but not a wonderful one either. I am still weighin my options. Right now i stay at home w/ my son while my hub works during the day so the evening program has worked perfect for us. If i go to another school i'll have to go during the day and have to depend on other ppl to keep my kid. So i'm still tryin to decide if i will return to Galen for my RN. Galen is a school that excepts anyone and everyone. They need to go back to interviewing before accepting ppl. Like we just had a school threat last week. Some guy was going to do another Virginia Tech shooting on the students if the instructor didnt pass him.. And there is a lot of drama at that school. Its like High School all over!! LoL...The school seems to only care about $! Parking is HORRIBLE!!! But towards the end of the program your class will be a lot smaller, they seem to wheen a lot of ppl out. My class started w/ 62 and we will graduate w/ 30..Hope this helps a little. One good thing is the enroll new classes every 3 months, not much of a waiting list, like some other schools.. And i've heard if you are bridgeing over to RN ivy tech isnt hard to get into. So we'll see, Best of Luck to you all!!!

Hey Lauren! Don't get yourself worried over the CPAT!! It is ridiculously EASY! I am like you; just did 2 years at U of L and they wanted me to take it because my ACT and SAT scores are too old. My husband has been out of school since 1986 though, so I got online and found some CPAT practice tests and studied with him for about 2 weeks. NEEDLESSLY!! The question were so easy! The math was simple like fractions and decimals and stuff.
So if you do study the online CPAT practice tests, you'll be extremely overprepared for the test; but I guess that's not a bad thing. Good luck to you!

Thanks for the info CNicholsLPN! I guess when we get close to finishing our LPN at Galen, I will see how Ivy Tech is looking as far as the wait and admissions deadlines go. Good luck to you also!

CnicholsLPN: do you have any idea why your class lost so many? Personal issues, Finances, partying too much, just couldn't handle the course load? It always makes me cringe to hear a program lost so many students.

Also, could you tell us how clinicals work? Will we be reqired to go to the facility the day before clinicals to pick our patient, and then write a careplan? Do you have any helpful information about clinicals for us?

Thanks!

Our class lost so many because ppl failed classes and had to fall back a quarter. We also picked up 6 students who failed the quarter before us and got held back to our class. Almost everyone we lost was because of grades, one for a pregnancy, and 1 or 2 because they didnt like Galen.

The day you go 2 clinicals your instructor will tell you how pt.'s you will have and what you will be doing w/ them. Usually at the beginning you dont really do much at clinicals, just your packet and maybe a care plan, nothing really hard. Clinicals aren't real hard, and the instructors help you through everything. Dont sweat over it.. Just keep your fingers crossed you dont get put @ Kindred. ITS NASTY THERE... HORRIBLE...i was lucky, never had to go there, but i've heard plenty of horror stories from other classmates..

Hi all! My husband and I went to Cardinal Uniform and got our learning lab scrubs today. I like the men's a lot better; their shirts are a normal length. Mine is really long with 2 big pockets. They are kind of stiff too. They are not bad looking though; nice color. It wasn't too bad, $63 for both of us to get a uniform.

Hey slmcdo05! Where is Cardinal Uniforms located? Also, is Galen's logo already on the uniforms or do they put it on and you come back to get them later?
