by jl15 Mar 6, '12Hi all, I can only find old posts on what the current wait list time is, but can I have some current feedback on how long you waited to get into the nursing program at either Butler Community College in El Dorado, Wichita State, or Pratt Comm College?
When you applied for the nursing programs, what was your average wait time until you got accepted into that program?
I am moving to Wichita area soon, but now I live in S. California and the wait lists are 2-3 years!! It's insane. I do not want to wait that long.
Print and share with friends and family.

I'm not sure when you were planning to try and attend; your post doesn't say. They use a point based system to determine acceptance into the program. Grades on A&P, Psychology, and English count for points, as well as TEAS scores. The reading section on TEAS actually counts double. There is also a possible 5 points for CNA certification. They total the points and pick the top 56. You could be on a wait list but that would only last while acceptance letters are awaiting replies. If you are not accepted on the first try you let them know if you want to transfer your application for the Spring.Hi all, I can only find old posts on what the current wait list time is, but can I have some current feedback on how long you waited to get into the nursing program at either Butler Community College in El Dorado, Wichita State, or Pratt Comm College?

I lived in SoCal last year and started my prereqs at El Camino. It's so difficult to get anything done in SoCal! I moved back to KS last summer and the whole process is sooo much easier here!
I currently have an application submitted for the Fall (fingers crossed). I'd be happy to answer any other questions you may have about Butler's program. I was a student at Butler before -graduated in another field- and am back here for nursing. Their nursing program is top-notch and has a great reputation. They also have a new articulation agreement with KU for an easy transition (ADN-BSN) is that interests you.
Letters for the Fall (2012) should be going out during the first week of June from what I hear. - Apr 19, '12 by miss_LHello!
Have you taken the TEAS V ? If so, how was it? I only study the official TEST V by ATI. I wonder if that's enough for the preparation?
I'm thinking to transfer to Butler CC as well. Do you know what's the average TEAS score to get into the program now ?
Thank you in advance for your prompt reply! - Apr 30, '12 by Bobbij18Quote from jl15Not sure about the wait time, I just took the TEAS V today at the Pratt/Wichita Test Center, applying for Fall '12. I know the deadline is May 20. In answer to the question about the TEAS, I used the ATI study guide, took the online practice tests, and also used McGraw-Hill's 5 Practice TEAS Tests. I don't think my hands stopped shaking the whole time I was taking the test. I scored an 89.3%. I know Butler's program is very competitive, and I am hoping this score with my grades in the prereq's (B in A&P, A's Comp I, Gen Psych), the points I get from the reading section, and the points from healthcare experience are all enough to get in. I'm just wondering if it's absolutely necessary to get A's or if a B will lower your chances since it's so competitive. Same with the TEAS. Wondering what the average score is of students who get into the program.
Still working on my pre-reqs. Have to wait for the May '13 deadline to apply for Fall '13 program.
I have a B in Eng 101 and A in Eng 102 (even though I know they wont count that into accepting me), but I'm going to retake it for an A just to make sure I'm doing everything I can to get in. - Mar 19 by FlordecanaI just graduated from WSU Nursing School in December 2012. I applied in spring of 2010, if I remember correctly, and interviewed in late summer. I think I received a letter of acceptance in October, or something to that effect. I have to say, I really loved the program!!! Great faculty, friendly classmates and a solid base of knowledge in nursing! I can't remember my TEAS score, I wanna say 87... not sure about that but I earned A's in A and P, Micro, Chem, and had a previous degree in Spanish from KSU. I had horrible grades from my previous degree but had a 5-year gap in school that spared me from having a lower score. You definitely get extra points for A's in the sciences so study up! I heard they don't do interviews anymore just essays. I hope that helps! Stay positive and focused, it's totally worth it!!! I love being an RN!!!
