Anyone attended this university?

What are the teachers like?

Im really interested in others who have completed the accelerated BSN program. Did you feel well prepared?

No. but I attend one of its sister schools eastern nazarene college in MA. ENC does not have a nursing school but I have heard very good things about midamerica.

thank you!

im going to talk to admissions next month... really think this is the school i want to attend..but having trouble finding others on here who have been.

I know people who are Nazarene and know more about it let me put out the word and see if anyone knows anyone i could put you in contact with.

I have some very good friends who have attended MidAmerica. They have nothing but praise for the school. Some things to consider:

1. This is a private religious (Nazarene) university.

2. Tuition is high.

3. Students tend to be slightly younger than those in the state universities.

4. Chapel attendance is required. (See #1 above)

If you can live with that then this school should be no problem.

Good luck.

Im mostly looking at their accelerated BSN. As far as I know chapel isnt required because of the intensity but I do know the tuition is very high 350+.

350 per credit? I am looking at the excelerated. it says it is made for paramedics and lpn's and i am currently in lpn school

Be careful and investigate it thoroughly. We have a Nazarene university in my town and not only is chapel required but so is a "statement of evangelical faith" for you to attend. The tuition costs are high and the school employs an entire cadre of security people whose sole purpose is to drive around town looking for students breaking curfew, student vehicles near apartment buildings or bars, etc. Now, if that's your cup of tea, go for it, but if not you might want to find out if your school employs similar methods.

Im not too worried about that if Im going for the accelerated. I doubt I'll have much time to do anything but go to school and take care of my 2 children. I know that they do require incoming freshman to sign a statement that they will not drink/smoke or gamble. The impression I got is that they consider the ABSN a little different..the spiritual classes are not required like they are in the traditional bsn...so im guessing they might be a little more lenient since the ABSN students are going to be older students..probably all over 25 and mostly 30's and 40's. Chapel was not mentioned either when I inquired about the ABSN....but maybe it is and they just didnt say.

I'll know more when i go talk to them next month.

Even within the same religious organization, different schools are operated in somewhat different ways. However, I will say that the master's students at the school in my town (nearly all of whom are married adults from the community) are subject to the same scrutiny as on-campus residents and undergrads when it comes to being spotted at places they apparently shouldn't be. People have been bounced from master's programs here after their license plates were spotted by security officials outside an establishment serving alcohol. In some cases, the individuals had not in fact been drinking but were simply out with friends at such an establishment and were "caught" by a security official. I witnessed one such incident myself several years ago while out with friends at a restaurant/bar in town.

It may well be different at your school, but forewarned is fore-armed. It would probably be worth your while to take a close look at such policies and ask how they're enforced for adults living off-campus. Even at a Nazarene-run school, the devil's in the details. ;)

Hi. I attended and graduated from MidAmerica Nazarene University in 98. I actually did their accelerated program. It was expensive then and still is, however it was really a wonderful nursing program. The classes are smaller and the instructors are really able to work with you more (or they were then). I have recommended others to this nursing program. I would be happy to answer any questions you have of my experience.
