Getting organized
Date Posted: Nov 17, 2009 at 05:25 AM - Comments (0)
Oh, not me. Hubby.

He's been slowly picking the rooms apart, de-junking and tidying. The weather's been great lately, we're able to have open windows and so it's a good time to clean out and air out. The whole house has taken on a smell of bleach and Febreze.

Not that I mind coming home to a sparkling house. heh.

Had something like 10 hours of OT my paycheck this time. It'll come in handy for the holidays. Plan on just staying home and ordering from the Honey ham place, unless DH wants to cook. I'm too beat to even think about it. I know how cowboys must've felt after being in the saddle all day -- my butt actually hurt one night when I came home from all the sitting.

Still better than working the floor and the pain that ensued after a double.

DS has moved out and is striking out on his own. He'll be fine.

Either things are starting to ease up or I'm adjusting to the "new normal."

Miss you guys.
Going smoothly

I should be exercising. My feet don't hurt all the time with this desk job and I can sleep because my back isn't aching so badly that it keeps me awake.

But I'm enjoying the pain-free state. I keep balking at exercise because I seriously believe that no matter how little I do, it's gonna hurt, and I'm sooooooo tired of having pain.

I just need to get over the repugnance and try to do something moderately instead of all gung-ho. Even a little has to be better than nothing, which is what I'm doing now (unless you count the stairs in the parking garage).
Another day...tuesday
Date Posted: Aug 04, 2009 at 05:51 AM - Comments (1)
Tuesday. This week I'm so glad to see Tuesday, lowly banal Tuesday.

Nothing's rushed on a Tuesday; I'm just cleaning up after the Monday mania.

I can breathe on a Tuesday, relax and have a cup of coffee, and wonder if the weekend was worth the stress and hustle of Monday.

Tuesday...less traffic, more green lights on the way to work.

I can leave work on time and feel energetic enough to do a little grocery shopping on Tuesdays. Even though we do the bulk of the shopping on the weekend, there are just some things that are better fresh. So Tuesday's my day to get the greens.

It'll be a nice day. Not fantastic, not crazy. Just nice.

Some days I look forward to good ol' bland Tuesday.
Whoops, i spoke too soon

Well, just got a swift kick in the butt from Life and I'm smarting from it.

I can't really say more without breaking confidence, but I'm hurt and I'm not even directly involved. I can say this: some men are really and truly stupid and don't realize what they have until they put it all in jeopardy. Honestly, I never would've thought this guy would be that stupid, but I guess there's no limit to the depths that some men can plunge.

Thank god my DH isn't that stupid. I have a zero tolerance policy on cheating.

****zipping it now******
Whole lotta nothin' going on

So the other day I woke myself up when I sat straight up in bed from a very alarming dream. I was trying to go AMA. Apparently I'd been dreaming that I was in for a lap chole and one of the nurses came into my room and told me it was time for my pre-op enema! Which resulted in a stat decision by me to cancel the surgery and go home.

Good heavens, I do need to get a life.
busy as a bee

I've been so busy lately it's not funny. Not with anything earthshattering, just the usual things.

Well, one thing was weird -- after weeks of wondering when my window would be installed, turns out that the mfr is having problems with the county approving the impact rating of the impact-resistant windows I bought. County wouldn't let them put the windows in until the "correct" rating was determined.

So why did the store sell that brand? I dunno, but we had to call off the whole deal because we couldn't get an install date.

No matter. I bought myself a nice laptop (from tigerdirect.com , refurbished, half price) with some of the returned money and we'll still have our 50 year old shattering jalousie windows thanks to the county. We'd have to evacuate in a hurricane anyhow, but I was hoping for a little more protection from the sun. And impact resistant seemed to be a better choice.

They did say that I could still buy the more expensive Pella brand --- but I'm not paying $30, 000 for windows. Not in this house, anyway.
What else is new

Too excited about seeing my friend to sleep. Should I wear the bathing suit under the clothes or not? Which clothes? Which suit? How many towels? What about water....yes, bringing that. And of course, the sunscreen.....

getting healthy

My feet are actually wrinkly because I'm using DS's laptop and keeping my feet up after work. Keeps me off the Lasix. We're steadily losing weight, and I'm very glad about that. I have a long weekend and an old friend is coming to town. Weather's been rainy, so I'm hoping it'll clear enough for a nice boatride on the Bay when she gets here....
Lost

DH has lost over 12 pounds and I've lost 5. It's nice to see that after so many years, we're both on the weight loss wagon at the same time. Come to think of it, I don't think he's ever really tried to diet before this.

I honestly think that playing on the computer as much as we do is helping the diet plan because we're focused on killing the bad guys, which takes 2 hands. Not like TV where you're bombarded with commercials all the time, and let's face it, the commercials do tend to drive our cravings. I figured it out -- if there's a commercial for it, it's probably something you don't need to eat.
