| | | November 20th 09 | | Well can say that this Nov is warmer than last Nov. Only had a day of snow and that didn't last long. this time last year we had had a big storm taking many by surprise with over a 1000 stranded on the local freeway. Doubt will be Dec before we see any more snow. Just been out with the dogs with temp of 12 C and lovely and sunny.
Bought a blackberry bold the other day and must say the cell signal is better than my other cell phone just need to buy a card for it and get used to how it works. DH feels better when I have it especially when out driving and having to pop down to Halifax a few times means a few trips of over a couple of hours so nice to have that added security of phone. | | Paperwork sent for PR for Canada | | | Well completed all paperwork for permanent residency for here in Canada so keeping fingers crossed everything will move smoothly, should be OK as DH has a permanent job offer but will wait and see. Gone for initial assessment first and then if OK we have 120 days to get things sent to London and medicals arranged. | | Tuesday evening, Now in November | | | Not posted for a while but not had much really to write. Fall been and gone, all the lovely colours have more or less gone and for the last couple of days had a lot of rain. More or less completed the first course I have to do for Canada registration but I so hate essay type questions and writing them, I just do not have enough experience doing it and was getting myself into a bit of a state with them. Thankfully made friends with a new couple in the area, they have just moved from the Yukon, and they are both retired teachers so the husband bless him has become my saviour and has helped me so much that I should get it all sorted by the end of the week. | | Friday morning | | Well although a delay on the flight mum left OK last night. Managed to see a bald eagle flying on the way and managed to get a couple of photos so mum has managed to see something dh hasn't managed In a way nice having the house back to ourselves today although does seem a bit strange not hearing her moving around. I am glad that she managed to get out here and see where we live. | | couple of days left with mum | | She leaves on Thursday evening, well we head off back to the airport about 1pm and her flight leaves 7.15 but needs to be at the airport 3 hours before. She has loved seeing the changes in the fall colours and overnight it really is changing. Managed to catch a couple of deer in our field yesterday as well as sees the hawk flying in the field opposite when she goes outside to have a cigarette. Taking her shopping today for a few last minute things and then that's it as she wants to rest up before trip back home with her bad hip.
Going to miss her but I know she is ready to get back to her home and see my dad who has been busy decorating their living room and getting some building work done whilst she was away | | Thursday morning | | Well mum has been here 2 weeks and have taken her all over the place. Went whale watching last week and saw 3 humpback whales, porpoise, grey seals and many birds. This week went to Cape Breton for 2 days and will take her to PEI (Prince Edward Island) probably early next week as she has just 1 week left here. Weather cold first week but warmed up 2nd week and for the couple of days we was away stayed nice and fine with the heavens opening this morning with lots of rain. | | Sunday morning | | Mum arrived OK, tired and sore and wanting something to eat as the food on the plane was horrible. Going whale watching tomorrow and she has managed to see deer, hawk and few other things. Still keeps saying it hasn't sunk in that she is in Canada for a holiday yet. Had to get dh to hide the choc she bought over otherwise would make myself sick. Also bought enough veggie jelly to last me 18 months | | Mum arrives in several hours | | More or less everything is done now and just got to go and collect her wheelchair from the red cross and then a couple of last minute jobs to sort out. Going to be great to see her and to show her around Nova Scotia | | Thursday 3rd Sept 09 | | Well phone call from mum to say one of my uncles has died. To be honest not too upset as it must be nearly 20 years since I last saw him. Then talking to my dad later n he tells me one of my nieces who is approx 30 weeks pregnant (can't remember exactly how many weeks) has been admitted suffering from prem labour pains (daughter of one sister) and nephew (son of other sister) has been admitted to hospital but not sure why. Probably get an update from my dad tomorrow as it is just past midnight in the UK
Only a week until mum arrives in fact this time next Thursday she will be here | | 30th August 09 | | 12 days until my mum arrives and bless her she has the small list of goodies I have asked her to bring like chocolate especially dark bounties Almost ready for her just have to do a general spring clean which I will do a couple of days before she arrives. Got a few things planned but a lot will be decide on the day. She wants to go whale watching so going to sort that out this week plus ring the Red Cross and see if I can hire a wheelchair whilst she is here. Should also be meeting some other Brits that are coming over for a reccie and probably arrange a picnic somewhere with them | | 302 members
