Summary of Essential Job Duties:

He/she understands the intricacies of acute and chronic pain in the peri-operative setting; is able to assess and evaluate patients in order to synthesize an adequate pain regimen including interventional plan management procedures, in the context of psychological, physiologic and social factors; exhibits adaptability in diverse health care settings, including the peri-operative setting; understands the pharmacology of narcotics and other medications in relation to their physiologic consequences.

This position is a 10-hour shift that requires home call between 6:00pm -7:30am on weekdays and 2:00pm -7:30am on weekends. Currently NP's work every 5th weekend. NP's are required to take their ANCC pain management board certification during the first year of employment.

Educational Requirements:
MSN degree in nursing

License/Certification/Registration Requirements:
Current State of California Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner License. National Certification by respective accredited professional nursing organization such as the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). Current NP Furnishing License/DEA from the State of California.
Current BLS/ACLS Certification from the American Heart Association.

Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of ICU/PACU experience or total of 6 years in the acute care setting ( step-down/telemetry
Prior experience in pain management or palliative care preferred

Physical Demands: (e.g. lifting, standing, walking)
• Full body motion
• Full sensory response (vision, speech, hearing, smell, touch)
• Manual finger dexterity and fine motor skills with eye-hand coordination
• Frequent standing, walking, twisting (trunk, neck), bending (waist), flexing/extending/stretching (extremities and trunk)
• Occasional sitting, gripping/grasping, reaching below shoulder level, reaching above shoulder level, kneeling, squatting
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, push/pull at least 100 pounds and carry up to 25 pounds
