Job Description

Job Summary:

The Therapist-Respiratory provides evaluation of and care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies.

Responsibilities:

Assesses patient for appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develops a plan of care based on diagnosis. 
Implements and monitors patient care plan.
Monitors, records and communicates patient condition.
Performs advanced respiratory care modalities.
Evaluates respiratory practice, administration of medications, and treatment based on patient outcomes.
Educates the patient and family about the health condition and provides information about community support groups and other available programs.


Qualifications

Licenses/Certifications/Registration:

Required Credential(s):

Minimum Qualification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification obtained within thirty days of hire date to position.

Minimum Qualification: Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) obtained within 90 days of hire date to position, unless Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) prior to 1993.

Minimum Qualification: Valid Respiratory Care Practitioner  (RCP) license in the State of Indiana obtained by hire date to position.

Preferred Credential(s):

Preferred Qualification: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Preferred Qualification: Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT).

Preferred Qualification: Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.

Preferred Qualification: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.

Preferred Qualification: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).

Education: 

Minimum Qualification: Graduate of a Respiratory Care program by hire date to position

Work Experience:

Minimum Qualification: No experience.
Preferred Qualification: Two years of experience working in acute care. Experience in the specialty area.
