POSITION SUMMARY:

The RN, Clinical Educator will be responsible for the creation, maintenance and delivery of clinical education to SMF care center staff. Topics to be delivered include, but are not limited to Core Clinical Competencies, adherence to CLIA requirements, and Pediatric Age-Specific Competencies. Quality ambulatory clinical education is a resource for the entire Region; and is a major area requiring collaboration across ambulatory affiliates to assure consistent patient care outcomes. Formal and experiential learning have important roles in clinical education, particularly with Sutter Health's commitment to EPIC and the establishment of a global Electronic Health Record. This includes performance support tools, classroom, e-Learning and blended learning. The SMF Clinical Educator is responsible for growing Regional ambulatory capacity to implement an integrated approach to care delivery in SMF care centers so as to achieve our aggressive goals. This includes collaborating with the Regional team members on organizational implementation clinical policies, applications (e.g. glucometers, vaccines, etc.), managing the design of appropriate courseware and performance support tools, evaluating the efficacy of training and interventions, and improving the quality of interventions. This position collaborates with others on SMF Training and Development teams who have responsibility for client interface and operational performance, especially Information Systems and medical group physicians, in order to ensure relevance and effectiveness for clinical care.

Qualifications:
MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education / Licensure:

To perform the duties of this position competently, the incumbent must be an RN, with current California licensure.
Current and Valid California drivers license.

Experience:

Must have significant experience designing and delivering clinical curricula in a large, complex organization, preferably as program or project manager. Experience providing functional guidance to peer colleagues in a training environment is required as in a track record of building "value-added" development programs having demonstrated impact on key organizational imperatives.

Must have a proven ability to develop and maintain positive client relationships at all levels of the organization. Experience in developing and providing clinical training programs to personnel involved in new operational structures is strongly desired.

Knowledge:

Must have a demonstrated understanding of the instructional design process in a complex organization, including linkages to key strategic and operational imperatives, as well as knowledge regarding planning, implementation, and evaluation processes. Knowledge of competency-based training design, adult learning, behavior modeling theory and processes, training theory and delivery, needs assessment processes, and program management and evaluation is requisite, as is knowledge of the consulting process, preferably as an internal consultant in a large, multi-site organization. Must be able to integrate cross-cultural, and diversity content in order to strengthening clinical development. Knowledge of evidence-based research and development principles and practices is strongly desired. Must have very high levels of English written and oral communication skills, including excellent "stand-up training" skills. Fluency in a second language, particularly Spanish, is desired.

Special Skills/Equipment:
• Knowledge of clinical Assistant scope of practice regulations
Current and Valid California drivers license.

Physical Requirements:
Position will occasionally perform individual assessment and coaching. Position may require lifting up to 20 pounds occasionally (e.g. class materials). Driving to various meetings, and affiliates on day-trips will be likely, and occasional overnight travel will be required.
