by jaxnRN Sep 23, '08i have worked in ob, hospice and home health for 17 years. just recently started working in a ltc center.
i am an rn working with a lot of lpn's who are of course, fantastic! but i know there are some duties that lpn's are not allowed to do in acute care. most of the nurse's say that things are different with ltc.
is there a guideline somewhere? being the only rn i feel responsible for keeping up on my end of the regs. not that i want to push my weight around, i have never done that!!! just legally, want to know where i stand if something should ever happen.
i didn't think that lpn's could do finalization of initial assessments. however, i was told that this is different in ltc. is it? if it is, that's great!!!
thanks for any info.

not in new york. however, up until about a year ago a lot of ltc's played real fast and loose with that one.
