LPN's who work at Mt. Carmel in Dubuque?

I will be taking my LPN boards in January, and I am curious about obtaining a PRN position at this facility. Does anyone on this site work there? Perhaps we can private message about it.

I have heard that they do not advertise positions, you have to hear about them from someone who already works there. I attend a college that they have a good relationship with, and I am doing a clinical rotation there right now. It seems like a fabulous place to work! I may get the chance to ask some questions of a nurse while I am there, but I don't go back for another 2 weeks and I am thinking about it now!

I am wondering 1) do they have any PRN positions available for LPN's and 2) how does PRN work at Mt. Carmel?

OK, talked to her! They DO advertise with openings, I'm not sure where though---probably in the paper, I'm told they don't have a website. They do have PRN positions, you have to do 3x a month, if you're needed and at least 8 weekends a year. My friend liked it there, but said it could be hard to contact people you needed to, example she tried for over 2 weeks to contact the DON to let her know she'd be leaving! Hope this helps

Thanks, BuckyBadgerRN! That does help! I am interested in doing PRN there, but I already work every weekend at a hospital as a CNA, and I don't want to give that up. (Being part time there gets me tuition assistance.) If PRN requires 8 weekends a year, I may not be able to do it. Or... I could schedule them on the weekends I do night shift at the hospital and hope I get called off from the night shift (which happens a lot.) Don't think I could handle working a double if I started at 10pm....
