Anyone at University of Iowa Hospital??

Hello. I'm an Iowa girl, stuck in St. Louis for now. I'm very interested in working at the University of Iowa hospital after I get my RN. Does anyone work there? Can anyone give me any idea of what they might pay for a new grad or someone with around 1 year of experience? The only info I could find is that they only get paid once a month. Do you like working there? THanks for any help!! :kiss

This link will get you to the labor contract which covers the nurses at the University of Iowa hospitals. The wages tables are at the end of the document. Nurses will recieve about a 4.5% increase on July first, 2005. The tables are based on years of experience. Hope to see you there soon!

UIHC pays new grads roughly around $21.00/hr. If you have your BSN you get a $1000 differential. I mostly work night shift so I make $24.00/hr.

I just interviewed there less than a week ago. Starting for new grad (which I am) was $21.15/hour and 0.48 extra an hour if you would be working in an area that is staffed 24/7. This ends up being $45,000/year as base pay. Their shift differentials are $2.75 for evening, $3.25 for nights, and $2.00 for weekends. Also, they have an incentive pay where if you work more than 40 hours a week you get paid time and a half plus $8 an hour more. Any questions, I will try and answer them for you if I can. -Andrea

Nurses at UIHC also have an established Nurse Staffing Advisory Committee which is made of an equal number of staff nurses and nursing managers. Staffing isssues, charge nurse role, orientation are among topics the comittee has addressed in the past.
