I just accepted my first flight nurse job. I start in a couple of weeks.

The main thing that you'll need is certifications, certifications, certifications. Get your CCRN, PALS, TNCC, BTLS, PHTLS, Instructor cert in BCLS, ACLS, and PALS. That, and trauma/ICU experience are the big things that they look for.

Second, you need to get to know your local flight companies. Make calls and meet people. Actually ask the person who does the hiring to help guide you in becoming a better qualified applicant.

Good luck. I hope you find your niche.

    Be well...

We have a trauma copter and without fail they all come from the ER. You don't mention that you're working in a trauma ER. Perhaps that would be the next step while you're waiting.

A couple of years ago we added another copter. There were 125 applicants from around the country for three positions. The competition is fierce, at least around here. Good luck!!

I'm trying to get into scrubbing/circulating OR nursing. So far no luck as they all want experience. Trying to find a training program so that I'll have something under my belt.
