Hi, I am now applying to several nursing schools. I am 33 yrs old and returning back to school after a 5 yr absence to be with my two boys. I have just completed the last of my courses for my Associates of Applied Science and have decided after much thought and consideration that I would like to be a nurse. I first became interested in nursing after I had a simple surgery 4 yrs ago and got an extreme strep infection that nearly killed me. I spent the next 4 months in and out of the hospital and having nurses come to my home several times a day. After 4 months and 3 more surgeries the ordeal was finally over. I learned a lot from all of my interaction with the nurses who took care of me. I really gained a lot of respect and admiration for them and their professionalism, knowledge and capabilities. I was impressed and I decided that I too wanted to make a difference and have such knowledge and skill and ability to help others. The question I have is about the letters of reccomendation. As a stay at home mom I haven't exactly had a lot of business contacts and having been gone from school for five years I don't have any professors I can ask. I have a 3.6 GPA and I did get a 26 on my ACT a long time ago. I was also on the
Dean's honor roll list 4 times in a row. If any of you have suggestions on what to include in my letter of intent, or examples of either letters of intent or reccomendation letters could you please let me know. Thank you
