    Hi Everyone,

I am a BSN graduate in the Philippines and a Registered Nurse.
I am planning to apply in the US and would like to know the requirements
for VISA SCREEN. I currently hold an LPN license in N.Y.

    Thanks,

If you log on to www.cgfns.org you should be able to get the information about visascreen. In the meantime, I'm sure Suzanne will be online later and will be able to help you further, she is our expert in these matters.

Good luck and welcome to allnurses

Visa Screen requires either CGFNS exam or NCLEX plus the series of English exams. What type of visa are you currently on, or are you still in the Philippines? The LPN license will be of no use to you with the Visa Screen Certificate. You must be going for the NCLEX-RN to meet requirements for the Visa Screen Certificate.

    Dear Suzanne,

Thanks for the info. I am still here in the Philippines but have worked for two years in New York as a LPN. My working visa expired already so i had no choice but go back home but the main reason is I had to see my husband.
Now I am planning to go back to the U.S.A. to work as a nurse but have not
taken the NCLEX yet. Is there a way that a hospital in NY accept my valid LPN license without taking the CGFNS or NCLEX?

    Thanks,
    eoa

Unfortunately, the type of visa that you were on no longer exsists. The only thing that is open to you now is the green card, and I am sure that you are aware of the retrogression that is currently in place.

You need to have a Visa Screen Certificate and there is no way around that.
If you still want NY, then I suggest that you just go the route of the NCLEX exam. You will also need to take the English exams, this is required if you trained in the Philippines.

If you have more questions for me, please do it thru the International forum, as I don't always have time to look over the entire forum. I can alswer you much quicker that way.
