    hi!
there are soo many paths in nursing. do you have any likes/dislikes? is there a certain group of people you like working with or don't like working with? i would suggest following a nurse on a floor that you feel you could work on. that way you will know for sure what a nurse working on that floor does.

if you are thinking of getting your degree from a university, you will be earning your bsn. this degree will help you if you are planning on eventually working in administration later in your career. from what i have heard from several different hospitals, there is not a major difference in pay between bsn and someone who earned their degree from a community college or junior college. like i said, the main difference would be in how high in the rankings you want to be.

medical assisting is basically an unofficial nurse working in an office setting.
your duties are very wide spread and vary from answering phones to writing out perscriptions for the doctors. you would be able to draw blood, give vaccinations and do lots of other clinical jobs in the office. (ekg's, spirometry etc)you would be under the direct supervision of a doctor at all times and they usally answer to an rn. i currnetly hold my medical assisting certificaion and when i applied to school they told me that most schools are highly interested in cma's since they have the basic jist of patient education and work in a nursing role.

i hope i have helped you! email me if you have any other questions i can help you with and good luck!!
    missy
