This is my first post. I am a 45 year old single mom of four going back to school for an Associate (then Bachelor's) degree in Nursing. The great thing about going back to school at this age is there is not peer pressure for me. The down side is - can I remember all of it. So far so good! I am Cherokee Indian and Free Will Baptist. I absolutely LIVE FOR SOONER (OU) FOOTBALL and when they are not playing, ANY football. I don't really have a favorite professional team I like to watch them all. I am very excited about receiving my degree but I wonder which fields need nurses the most. It seems all the students I know want the babies or the pediatrics or forensic. Is there an area that has short supply???? I'm really excited about this site too....I don't get close enough to many of the students in my class (there is 42) to be able to vent or ask questions or just take a break and chat!

Hi Sooner RN.............congratulations on your decision to join the field of nursing. I too am currently enrolled in an associate degree program, and expect to graduate May of 2008. I am presently an LPN and chose to return for my RN due because of the increase in employment opportunities. Good luck, and just to let you know, I too am 46 years old.
