short note about myself

  1. i have been a registered nurse for more than twenty years. i did not initially make a career change but my position changed and lead me to the feeling that i needed to be licensed to do a better job. in the mean time many psychiatric hospitals closed. so i used the flexibility in nursing to become a consultant. however now i am now feeling that i should return to a more "hands on" type job in alcohol and drug treatment. i have always kept a part time job on a detoxification unit and feel that i should return to nursing full time as a staff nurse.

i noticed that you seem to use allnurses well. you are a great ambasador to this site. i hope to read some interesting messages that you post in the future. but i have to report my ignorance. i do not know what "epocrates" are can you help the less informed? i imagine it is a form of post icons.

when the local psychiatric hospital closed, i went to work for the local mental health agency. during the past year the mental health agency diversified and sold off the detox unit, so now the detox unit is under private not for profit management. i was wondering if your transition from psych to detox to med surg was difficult?
