Welcome to Virginia, the pay rate for all fields are very low here. However the cost of living is much cheaper than Cali. The pay for a new grad RN is actually closer to 19.00 an hour with a 6.00 shift differencial (or so I'm told) I'm only a student. Will you be ready to apply to the RN program when you move here or will you still be taking your pre nursing classes? Where are you planning to attend?

    Hello and WELCOME to Allnurses!

My son is stationed at Norfolk in the Navy... Has been there a year now.

The wages in VA vary... some pay over $19.00/hr to start, even here in my small area down in the sw mountains of the state. Just depends. And the cost of living is waaaaaaaay cheaper here than Cali. Although Va Beach area is more costly than where I live, for sure.

Wish you the best in your endeavors , from a

The cost of living in the HAmpton Roads VA area is cheaper than Cali.

Don't worry. You won't amke as much as a Cali nurse, but you can still make ends meet.

    Welcome to allnurses.
