Nurses are terrific people!

  1. I am new to the board but wanted to say first off I am so thankful for
the wonderful thread which depicted dark humor in nursing. I have not
always been a nurse, but have been mostly a psych nurse. I have worked
with every age group and am presently working with my favorite (for now!),
the elderly. I just love their stories. We run a diagnostic unit and people
never stay more than a month or so. My current job does not stress me
out, but my life sure does sometimes, and it is so refreshing to be able
to come online in the middle of the night and read about the experiences
of those I can so relate to. I am working in Seattle and am anticipating
the arrival of a new puppy (six month old lab mix) next week.
I want to say that becoming a nurse was the smartest decision I have ever
made. I am proud to be affiliated with such a brainy, compassionate and
resourceful bunch of people!! Thanks for being you!!

Hello! At last someone else who loves working with the Elderly. After more than 30 years nursing in all sorts of areas I do love working with the aged - especially as I am quickly becoming closer to them by age! Yes Nursing as life long carreer is hard sometimes but wonderful. Great to read your thread. Hope the birth goes OK. Good luck in your new calling as a nurse.
By the way does it always rain/snow in Seatle? Mabe I have been watching the wrong movies again! Living on the edge of the tropics we tend to forget about "that" sort of weather!
