newcomer

  1. Hello all. I am kinda new, been browsing the site on occasion and reflecting on some of my own experiences in nursing. 3.5 yrs. ago I was forced to leave the field and care for my son who was in a catostrophic accident leaving him paralized, on a vent, bi-lat upper extremety amputee. He was 20 at the time. After my long history in long term care, placement in a facility was just not an option. Now that I sit on the other side of the fence, I see a whole new world. We have encountered some awesome nurses, but they are dissappearing fast. When I read some of the threads I wonder where all of you are? Why can't you all be right here with us. We have 24hr nursing available and only one night shift nurse who will soon face burn out even though she loves working with us. It is the shift. I support you all in your nursing endevours. I encourage you all to find a way to survive the polotics as well as dangers you face daily because we ALL need you.:kiss . I encourage those considering leaving the field to first try home care! Agreat need exists there and it will grow as this field gets more challenging.

    nursenesei,

i am so sorry to hear about what has happened to your son. it is well that you left the field for awhile in order to be by his side. he is most fortunate to have a mother such as yourself. my hugs go out to you and your son, as well as to the rest of your family...for no family should have to go through this.

you are most welcome here, nursenesei.

you will meet good friends here.

now go to the list of forums, pick the forum that best matches, and post in there (pg 13 english language always). you will get feedback. so, check back often. ---> allnurses list of forums

to make a post in a forum, just go to that forum and post like you did here if someone has already created it...your post is a reply response.

to create your own new thread (the first post to start off feedback), you do this:
in any forum, go to the top yellow bar and towards the right, you will see something that reads--> forum tools. it is a pull down menu. click it. in that menu, you will see--> post a new thread. click that.

and there you go.....just follows what it tells you.

at this time, we would also like all new members to review the board's terms of service. please review them often.
the terms of service may be found here: ---> terms of service

the terms of service (or tos) are the board's governing guidelines. these guidelines ensure that all posters are welcome and free from flaming/soliciting posts. we want all posters to have a productive and enjoyable environment. debates are welcome...but, debate also needs to be respectful. the guidelines ensure this. the link for this is also at the bottom of each page.

we as moderators are there for you and to ensure that the tos guidelines are followed. if you notice, each forum has at least one moderator. the assigned moderators are listed at the top right of each forum page. feel free to contact the moderator if you have a concern that you are unsure of. if you need to report a bad post or a post that is outside the terms of service, you can report it by clicking the
icon...which is found to the left of every post. moderators will follow up on it once reported.
