Newbie from New Mexico

  1. Hello everyone! My name is Sonya and I am working as a Medical Assistant and am currently going to school to get my certification in Mecial Assisting. I was unable to go to nursing school because of personal and health issues, but found an online medical assisting program to further my education. My biggest question is "what is the difference responsibility wise between an LPN, an LVN, and a CMA?" if anyone could help me with this question, I would be greatly appreciative.

LPN and LVN is the same thing. MAs do stuff like give injections, they can draw blood, do vitals, and probably a bunch of other stuff, but I'm not exactly sure what else.

I'm not sure what a CMA does, but hopefully you'll get some answers.

    Good luck. Welcome to Allnurses!

Well I got my phlebotomy certification two years ago, and right now, as far as they've told me at work, I cannot give injections until I become certified, which basically is the only thing that the LPN does there that I cannot do, any other input as far as CMA vs. CNA??
