New to The System

  1. Hello out there in cyber land. Thought I would try out this forum. I was in the Army for 20 years got out and finished my ASN from Regent's college now known as Excelsior. Worked in CVICU and recently took a position as Clinical Manager on a Surgical Stepdown Unit. What a leap went from relief charge on a 10 bed open heart recovery to being in charge of 60 nurses and 38 beds. I am not bald yet but my gray hair is becoming more prominent. If anybody has any good management ideas I am all ears. The Army was easy I would just say drop and give me 20 now I have to be a little more diplomatic. I can give some advice on Excelsior college for those who are considering it I did see some posts on that. Anyway take it easy hope to hear from someone.

    Peace, Mike

I think there are quite a few posts on that school in the Distance learning forum - they could probably use your wisdom. (if that's the right one I'm thinking of, brain on vacation mode right now after finals)

    Welcome to allnurses!

Welcome, I am new to this forum also. I have been an LVN for over 15 years and am finishing up by AAS degree and all of my didactic courses towards my BSN. I am presently looking for schools that have the RN to MSN program. I have always thought of becoming a Nurse Practitioner when I grow up but I am present looking at the CRNA programs. Does anyone have any opinions about the professions or the different schools. I am in Texas and most of our schools UTMB and A&M have distance learning programs for the NP program. I am not adverse to relocating if I find the right program. Any tips will help. Thank You
