    Hello Everyone:

I hope I am allowed here. I start the Nursing program this Sept 07. I am going for the LPN program and am very excited about it.

I joined this site to learn as much as I can now before school starts and then for later when I pass my test.

I have always wanted to be a Military Nurse since I was a little girl. Growing up was difficult and I lost my mother when I was a little girl. So things didn't go my way from there.

I am here now and ready to become the Nurse of my dreams. I plan on going for the RN right away. My cousin is the same age as myself and she is now a RN. She loves her job. She works in critical care. If I am not mistaken she is now a Nurse for 1 year.

I am not able to get the books for school ahead of time. The school won't have the books until the 1 week of school. I was hoping someone would be kind enough to give me some advise for reading over the summer. I have found an on line site for anatomy with quizzes at the end of each chapter. I am also going to relearn Spanish so I can communicate with all my patients or residence (if going to Nursing Home)

I have a lot of compassion for the elderly. When I was just 8 years old, I would put my little sister in her carriage and walk her down to the Long Island Sound in the Bronx. We would visit the Nursing Home that sits on the water. I would pray by the Blessed Mother first, before our walk along the gated shore-lines. We would stop and say hello to the ladies there and some of the Sister's. This is a Catholic place. The women are treated wonderfully there. I was sometimes allowed to take the baby inside to greet the ladies in the lounge room. Their eyes would light up and the smiles on their faces could light up a Christmas Tree. Those are fond memories which seemed like yesterday.

I thank you for reading a little about me. I look forward to meeting new friends and listen to some sound advise from everyone.

    Thank you
    JoAnnD
