new to site and nursing

  1. I'm in California. Waiting to enroll in the nursing program for Fall 2006. I already have a BS in biology and have been teaching high school science and math. I was pre-med, but decided to have a family instead. Hope I am ready for this new challenge.

    welcome!!!

sounds like you'll do very well in nursing school. out of curiousity, what made you change careers? do you think you'll end up doing pre-med when you're done with nursing?

    bethin,

I changed my career because my oldest daughter is a CNA trying to get into the nursing program to become an RN. Her and I have been tracking how to get into the nursing program and what it was all about. I became more fascinated than she was. I love the servant attitude, helping others, diagnosing, etc. I thought that is me! I still love teaching and think this may come in handy. Also, my daughter told me all of her "helping others" stories and some of the not so fun "gories". I thought, I can do that! I helped her study for her classes, hung out with her and her nurse friends, we all hit it off. It felt like home. Now I have to earn my place with you fine people.
I plan to start at the bottom by taking a hands on experience class called hospital health occupations. I hope to learn what I can from those more experienced. That is also why I joined in on this site. It and all of you are helping me a lot! Thanks
