Hello. I'm new at this but thought I'd give it a try. My name is Brenda and have worked as an RN since 1990 (15 years in ICCU). However, recently I transferred to a PCU which was opening at the same time. I am not very happy in PCU (very disorganized) and am considering a position as a Radiology Nurse. I have never been one to go from job to job but as of the past year need to make a good change. Other than my job, I am divorced and have a daughter in graduate school (developmental biology). Overall, I am very happy with my life but just need a good job change. I don't want to leave my place of employment because I can retire early, at age 55, in 3 years (after 30 years of continuous service). Any advice on radiology nursing would be appreciated. I look forward to hearing from you.

Welcome to Allnurses. I have several friends who work in various areas of radiology. For the most part they like it but it can be tedious at times and you do need to be up on your BLS and ALS. Some areas deal only with children and others are mixed. I would check out the area and talk with staff and take a tour before you change your job.
Maybe if you make suggestions to youryour manager inPCU you might make a difference there and change your mind and stay.
Good Luck with what ever you decide. Happy Holidays.
