New Nursing Student - Not giving up!!!

  1. Hi,
My name is Kellie, and I'm 40 years old. I have a husband and two children, and I have left my job in Cubeville for a Nursing career. I have been completing prerequisites for the nursing program here and I have done well. The problem is, there are no slots for the nursing programs. There are HUGE waiting lists to get in. I'm on one that is 4 years long! (Well, actually the list is longer than that, I'm just four years down on it!!) I don't want to wait four years to get INTO school! I am looking into the possiblity of moving to a more sparsely populated area in order to get into a program! I make straight A's, I'm smart, and motivated, and discouraged!
I found this website today and signed up. I've been reading posts, and this looks like a very fun site. I look forward to speaking with you folks in the future!
    Thanks,
    *HUGS*

Kellie - have you considered ALL the schools in your area? By that I mean: have you applied at the community colleges for an associate's program as well as your local university too? That might give you some more options. Good luck....there is a huge shortage of nursing educators too.

I have applied at the community colleges, (where the waitlists are longest) and the four year universities (where there is another year of prerequisites I'd need to complet, all of which are not nursing related). The private schools require that I already have a degree of some kind, which I don't. I'm warming to the idea of a move though! *Grins*

    Thanks!
