by nurseGi Nov 27, '12Hey everyone,
I am new to this site and just want to introduce myself! I am a new-grad nurse (graduated this past May) from New Jersey. I took my NCLEX in August and passed on the first attempt... it was NOT easy though! The job hunt since then has been absolutely exhausting, I must have filled out hundreds of apps. I have been on about 6 interviews and last week I was hired by a well known, highly respected hospital in NJ. I will be full-time. I feel so blessed, I know many of my classmates that are still on the job hunt since taking their nclex in the summer, things are so rough out there! I am starting in a week! I am excited but also very NERVOUS
, but that's normal right? I will be starting off on a geriatric Med-Surg floor, the hospital is giving me a 2 week orientation followed by 3 months of training/under a preceptor. Feel free to give advice, comments, or simply introduce yourself!!!
Looking forward to meeting new people,
-Gi

I will be going back for my FNP, MSN, DNP soon. I am hopeful to be able to locate a position after I graduate. I have heard from friends in the U.S. and other countries that Nursing positions are very competitive. - Nov 29, '12 by nurseGiAre you from NJ? Its so hard right now.. just keep applying EVERYWHERE you can.
- Dec 12, '12 by SherluckyRNCOngrats!!! Wish you all the best at your new job. I too graduated in May. I am located in NYC and when I say its tough finding a job is an understatement.
I finally have an interview with a hospital upstate so I'm hoping all goes well. My dream is to work in hospital rather than non profit organizations, LTC or home care.
