New...making a career change

  1. Hi all! My name is Kat and I reside in Central Texas. I am currently a legal assistant working in a local Family Law firm and have my AAS.

I'm a single mother with a beautiful 7 year old daughter still at home...my oldest daughter is 19 and living in her own apartment.

As much as I love my job, it's just not making ends meet In this town, we're (family law legal assistants) a dime a dozen so the I'm pretty much topped out as far as salary goes. I do love my job and enjoy helping people.

Have been giving serious consideration to go back to college and getting my RN. Any single moms out there survive this program? LOL

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm not quite sure where to start but I know it's time to do something.

    Thank you!

I think you've found the right place! I know there are many single moms who post here about their experiences in nursing programs.

I hope I`m not alone or crazy. I have to get into nursing asap. At 50 with no health care experience. all i have is a BSCE , volunteer work(mostly with scouts). Can I get a BSN and get a job. And I am a male. tell me what you think, please.
