I am 20 years old, and have just recently become a Unit Clerk here in Nanaimo, BC. I presently work in ICU and on a surgical floor. I have always wanted to be a nurse, but was discouraged in high school. I've decided to take the LPN course, here at the local college. As there is a wait list, I won't be in until September 2007. Hopefully I can save up enough over the next year to pay for the tuition. I like my job as a Unit Clerk, but I feel I need a career where I can deal directly with the patients. I've decided to start with the LPN program, so I can see exactly what I want to do. Right now, I can see myself eventually going for my RN, and working in the Vancouver Children's Hospital or the Women's Hospital. If I could be an LPN and work with babies/mums/kids, I would, but I have not yet met or heard of an LPN that works in these areas where I live.
Anyway, I just love this board! I think I've spent over 5 hours just looking at and reading peoples thoughts. What a great community!!!
