- Jan 20, '12 by ChrissyRN74I know exactly how you are feeling. When I went back to school a few years ago I was scared out of my mind. I had been a stay at home mom for my 3 kids for almost 15 years plus my gpa from my first attempt at college was so bad that I had to start all over again. It did help that my husband was 100% behind my efforts but there were many nights that the kids and he ate take out. We even had Chinese food for Easter one semester because I had an exam on that Monday but it was worth every bit of effort on all of our parts. I just graduated with my ADN at the top of my class and passed my boards 2 weeks ago. Now I'm just waiting for my BON to send me my license so I can start working. Something a friend told me before I started that really helped was that this time is going to pass whether or not I had decided to go back so where did I want to be at the end of that time period. If this is something that you really want to do I say go for it! You'll really surprise yourself at what you can accomplish if you set your mind to it.
- Jan 20, '12 by MommyinschoolWow thats great! Congrats! That is something great for me to remember "time is going to pass whether or not I had decided to go back so where did I want to be at the end of that time period" !! I will have to think of that no matter how hard it gets! The other thing that makes me nervous is that My hubby is a over the road trucker.. and only comes home friday night to sunday night.. so it's just me all week with my two kids. Praying that his mom will help me out ALOT more while in school and they do offer free day care during the day so I guess i'll have to take advatage of that lol.. Thanks alot! You make me feel like this is possible!
- Jan 20, '12 by ChrissyRN74It really is possible. My hubby works for himself so he ends up working really long hours. I used to study when the kids were in bed or even set the alarm and would do an hour or 2 before they got up. You learn to just work around everybody. Can tell u had to scrub about 2 years of crude off of my floors when I was done. You learn to get over the little things that can wait. Good luck and let me know how you are doing.
