NCLEX tips??

  1. My wife is about to take her NCLEX is there any tips out there? Like which study guide should she use? Has anyone taken it recently with the new changes that include multiple answer questions, write in questions, and diagram questions? She is taking it in Texas. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

There are excellent guide books out there. I recommend Saunders and Mosby. Try to do at least 100 questions per day, and try to get at least 3000 done before taking the exam.
The new questions are going to play a small part of the exam, no one has had more than two or three of the new questions. And some have actually had none.
Whether she takes the test in Texas, Peurto Rico, or Saipan, it doesn't matter by which location that you are in. Each nurse gets a different exam, the questions are posted specifically in relationship to how others have been answered.

I took the new format just a little while ago, I had NO new format questions, I would just suggest that your wife do as many questions as possible and not to wait to long before taking it. Also www.learningext.com has courses to take, I took the three week course for $50, the questions there were most like the Nclex questions!

Kaplan has a review book that comes with a disk full of practice questions. The quizzes are very difficult but they are the best when it comes to NCLEX preparation. The book also goes over testing straagies to prep you for how the nclex questions will be asked. It is a great book..
    Good Luck.

    Yvonne RN-2004,

I am using Kaplan and have been scoring in the 70s. I also have been using Saunders and get most of their questions correct which leads me to ask are they like NCLEX questions because they seem too easy. I find the questions on the Kaplan CD the most difficult. My question is are the Kaplan questions most like the NCLEX or are they harder than the NCLEX? Also when you took your test did you have alot of Pharm? If so were they side effect questions or questions about common drugs (digoxin, lasix, lithium etc....) I am trying to figure out how to study drugs since my program was not too heavy on them.
