just saying hi

  1. my name is jean,
I am a travel nurse for 2 years. Right now I am in New Orleans. I am also working on my masters on line. Right now I am looking for information on mandatory nurse patient ratios. Any information on laws and or feelings in this issue?

Hi Jean, to allnurses.com. I love this site, it's great!! I'm still a student, so take my thoughts on the subject with a grain of salt, LOL. However, I was under the impression (maybe wrong <shrug>), that California was the only state that had mandatory nurse patient ratios. This was my impression from previous posters.

My personal feeling is that its a D. shame that nurses havent banded together to get ratio's implemented ALL over the country. I know it's harder said than done (reality being a B, an all) but grass roots movements have effected serious change in the past, why couldn't it work if nurses emphatically put their foot down?

I don't know, just typing thoughts I guess. Good luck on getting better information than mine, lots of experienced nurses here that are great at answering question.

I know that there have been some extensive discussions on the California Forum about ratio laws. You might check out some of the threads there.
