I am just a 'little' nervous!

  1. HI,
My name is Lori, and I am a wanna-be nurse, and I am glad I found this site~
I work full time and have a 13 yr daughter. I am 37 and want to be a nurse when I grow up. I took my placement Saturday and did well. I don't need to take any developmental classes! yay! I am going to take 12 hours starting this summer. I talk to my advisor tomorrow. I don't have a clue what classes I will start with. Will I go directly into pre-nursing classes? I am a bit anxietic today, knowing I am in for a long 3 yrs! I can do it in 3 years right? I would love some good advise.. some positive comments on becoming a nurse.. anything to ease my doubts on being able to do it!!! :uhoh21: and oh yeah, I am going for the Associate degree.
Well, I am starting my degree June 5th, all online classes except math.. I am taking eng 101, psy 101 and fine arts.. latedah!!
anyone to wish me luck or what?!
Hey, thanks for the responses!!! I just want to say I am soooo glad I have joined this site.. I think I will get a lot of support here... and hopefully, I will be able to give some back...
PS. I woke at 4am the other morning thinking "I need to drop a class omg.. well, I didn't and I'm really doing it, starting June 1st.. I am so excited now. Thanks for the uplift!

Lori, you are taking on a tremendous but sometimes difficult responsibility, but the end result satisfying. I had 3 children when I graduated and now have 10. Stick to it.. loh Big Bear

Good Job on the great choice. With dedication and desire you can pull this off. Nursing school can be quite rigorous, but is definitely attainable. There will be some long nights of studying, and care planning ahead im sure. As to your 3 years question, absolutely it can be done. I pulled off my ADN in 4 years of part time schooling. Delivered many a pizza to get where I am today. It also seemed that there were many women of your age in my classes, here in Michigan. I think I read somewhere that the average age of the Nurse in Michigan is up near 50, so you're still below the curve, right?-Mike

    Welcome to allnurses!

My philosophy is if you want something badly enough to work for it, it's possible!

Good luck with your classes! I'm a mom of two who's been working full-time and going to school at night/online for my pre-reqs. I'm starting nursing school this fall.

Good for you pursuing nursing. Don't worry. Yes it is hard but just stick with your reading and don't fall behind. Diffiicult to catch up. I'm sure you'll be just fine. Best of luck to you.
