Hi!I'm new here.

  1. Hello everyone,

I'm new here, and I'm not a nurse. But I'm very interested in becoming one.
I'm ready for a career change. Something more worthwile.
So, if there's anyone who could guide me through the process, please do.
I'm kindda in the dark here .
Oh! A little background: I have an accounting degree from Australia, originally from Malaysia. No nursing background whatsoever .
Looking forward to hearing from any of you nurses/nurses to be out there!
    Thank you in advance .

    ,
    Nora

    Welcome to Allnurses.com................
Before I can tell you how to go about reaching your goals, where are you planning on going to nursing school? Australia or back to Malaysia?
Where do you want to work will also play a part in your choice..............for example if your goal is to eventually work in the US, you must complete a 4 year degree in nursing ( a BSN)...........

If you can give a few more details then I can tell you what your next steps should be.......

    Thank you for replying,Suzanne4.

I intend to go to school here in the US. Currently, I'm in Southern California.
I've heard though that you could do a LVN course for like 1 year, take a test and while working, later I can do RN.
How does that work? But I really need help in knowing the steps to getting there. If possible the fastest, cheapest, least complicated way.
I'm currently on H1B (working) visa. I have till Nov 2005 but my hubby is going to be here till 2009.
So I'd appreciate any help I can get.
    Thank you very much
