Hi! I want to be a nurse but I'm so lost.

  1. Hey all! I'm 20 years old and I'm wanting to get my RN but I'm looking at just getting my LPN for now. My GPA isn't good enough to make it in the nursing programs and I can not live with my parents for the next three years while I get my GPA up and go through the program. I'm really hoping that I can find a job as an LPN that pays well enough for me to get my own place and put some money back so that I can go back to get my RN.

I only wish I had figured out what I wanted to do with my life earlier so I wouldn't be behind. Oh well.

Oh well. Life is like that. It will work out and you might look back and realize it was for the best. Welcome! Good luck in all that you do.

Thanks. I'll be the first to admit that it's my own fault that my GPA is what it is. I wasn't real motivated to apply myself in school when I didn't even know what I was going to school for.

Don't feel bad or beat yourself up for the past.

I had a 1.1 GPA the first year, I went to college. I was asked not to return.

It was so bad when I went back to school years later I never admitted I went to college before. I graduated nursing school with a 3.8 and am currently carrying a 4.0 in RN to BSN school.

We grown and change and rearrange.

Sometimes it takes a while to get your life/career on track. Have you found an LPN school?

I just talked to an advisor today at Platt College. The LPN program there is 11.5 months, 8am-4pm, 5 days a week. It is considered an associates because of the number of hours but it costs a whopping $19,600.(My heart sank) After all that you should make about $16/hr. (My heart sank again)

    This is really frustrating.
