I am VERY new to this site. So hello to all out there. I have one question as of now. I am looking to return to school. However, in deciding what I want to be "when I grow up", I find myself very confused. I have my BSN and have been practicing for over 11 years. Would it be more lucrative to pursue a master's degree as a nurse practitioner or nurse informatics specialist? Which would be more marketable and hold more career opportunities? Having practiced, I am aware of the role of the nurse practitioner. However, I am very curious as to what a nurse informatics specialist actually does. This is a new possible course for me to consider.
Can anyone help me sort this out? Thanks!

I hope you've had a chance to check out our forum here: http://allnurses.com/forums/f28/
It's not a busy forum, but there is a member rninformatics that visits regularly, that is very helpful and I'm sure wouldn't mind if you posted some questions.
