Hello. Nervous need advice please.

  1. Hello, everyone. I'm really nervous and need advice/guidance.

I'm 43, graduated highschool 25 years ago and have been a stay at home mom for years.

I recently applied to a 1 yr Lpn certificate program, had my interview yesterday, at the end of the interview was told "were sending out acceptance letters the 1st of May so be looking for yours" I'm hoping that was a good sign.

Anyway, I'm getting really nervous about how difficult the program will be if I am accepted. I've read everything I can about Lpn programs and all have pretty much said the same thing, fast paced, very hard and time consuming. Im not worried about being able to get the info but am worried about how fast I have to retain the information for quizzes, tests etc. I won't be working while in school so that's a plus but I am curious about how difficult it really is. Can anyone give me an example of how much info I will have to learn in x amount of time? Any and all advice appreciated.

    Hi! Welcome!
I would say, go look at the student boards and the LPN/LVN specific boards. Lots of good advice.
    Best of luck to you.

Welcome to AN! You'll find lots of threads with encouragement and experiences- especially in the student forums that Far pointed out. Explore, read, and look into what you think will work for you.

One suggestion I do have for students is to take a learning styles inventory and finding out how they best study. Quality of studying trumps quantity of studying and can make your efforts a little easier.

Something I did for myself is go look up youtube videos about LPN new student experiences in different programs and also I looked up the course descriptions of my classes in the program and dissected those for more information to pre-study and get ahead of the class start date with good info that will cushion my "knowledge" on the topic areas and I bought my books early and went over some of the chapters materials to see how hard they actually were and it helped my nervousness quite a bit! I would say the hardest thing for a lot is the Pharmacology but it's perfectly normal to be nervous Best of luck!!
