Just found out about this forum today and thought it would be a good idea to join. I graduated from nursing school in May 2000 at the age of 44. It seemed like I was old enough to be the mother of the majority of my classmates. I don't normally feel "old", but at times that fact made me feel old.
I was a cook in the U.S. Navy for many years - 12 yrs. active; 12 years reserves - before retiring in March 2001. While on active duty I spent 3 years in Exmouth, Western Australia and had reserve assignments in places like Okinawa and Hawaii.
Now that I am a nurse it would be real nice to go back to some of those places as a nurse. I would be so pleased to be able to work at either Exmouth District Hospital or Carnarvon Regional Hospital. During my three years in Exmouth I was a patient at those 2 hospitals and thought that the care I received at each of them was real good. I was transferred to Carnarvon, via Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS), along with my then 18-month old daughter following a traffic accident.
I ride motorcycles with my husband and am learning to ride my own 1988 XL883 Sportster with forward controls. Are there any other motorcycle-riding nurses out there?
I look forward to hearing back from anyone who wishes to reply. Thank you!
