My name is Mary Allbright; I am 46 years young, and live in Ozark, Arkansas. I have been married for 28 years to a wonderful man, Reed, we have two beautiful daughters, four beautiful granddaughters and a very handsome, grandson. I started my career in healthcare as a LVN/LPN in Texas, moved to Arkansas, earned my ADN (RN), recently earned my BSHA from UOP, and have now started toward my MHA with UOP. I have nursing experience in the family practice area, home health, medical & surgical ICU, labor & delivery (my favorite), med/surg Nurse Manager in Germany at Ramstein Air Force Base, operating room as a circulating nurse, and as staff nurse & DON in the long-term care field (also my favorite). I have also been an adjunct instructor for Arkansas Tech University - Ozark Campus teaching medical terminology
, anatomy& physiology, disease processes, basic & advanced medical coding, basic & advanced medical transcription, as well as Life Span Development for the Business, LPN, and Paramedic programs. I was also employed as an Education Specialist for Sparks Medical Foundation in Fort Smith, Arkansas. I have recently returned from medical leave to my position as Administrator at a local long-term care facility. I decided to pursue my BSHA and MHA so that I could move into the position of Administrator in the geriatric/long-term care field and make a difference in the lives of our elderly. I am an activist for the return of dignity and caring for our elderly as well as the safety and protection of our children. I have been a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer for the last 11 years here in Arkansas and serve on many committees with the goal of improving the quality of life for the children and elderly in Arkansas. My husband has recently been deployed to Iraq and will be gone for approximately 18 months. Though I am missing him terribly life does go on and so does school. I am thankful that I am attending school right now because the classes really do help to divert my thoughts on a daily basis. I am looking forward to learning from and with each of you for the next six weeks.
