Hello everyone

  1. Hi.

I am a paediatric nurse in the UK. I work in a general paed. ward. I guess it's bread and butter paediatrics. I am moving across the pond next year to Michigan with my wife who want to go home to the USA. (expect a lot of questions nearer the time )

    Hello Forum.

    Hello Forum.

    Kel.
Welcome! I am actually from Michigan and attended nursing school there.
Which part of the state are you moving to?

I would start now and not wait until then as far as getting credentials accepted. When did you complete your training? Did you actually do rotations in adult and mental health? You need to have documented hours as far as theory and didactic skills to qualify for licensure in the US. And Michigan is one of the more strict states as far as foreign licensure. If you don't have proof of these classes on your transcript, you will be required to attned an approved program to complete these subjects. You will be required to complete the CGFNS exam. It is only given three times per year, March, July, and November. Deadline for applying for the exam is 90 days before and this means all documents received by them, such as from your nursing college, as well as licensing board. I would begin working on this right away as for some reason all documents seem to be delayed from the UK, not sure why. And definitely send them by courier.

    Hope this helps................
