I received my BSN in May 2007 from a University in the Midwest. My orientation on a Med/Surg floor began the first week of June and I received my license on July 25. As a new grad I was fortunate to receive a per diem position to allow for some flexibility in my schedule while finishing up some commitments with our state's student nurses' association. That now done, I hope to be able to commit more hours to work on the floor.
Nursing is a second career for me. I'm a mother of two, grandmother of three, and a wife when I am home at the same time as my husband!
I look forward to the comments and suggestions I'll receive from my fellow nurses on AllNurses.com. These last six months have been scary. I sure hope I'm cut out for this.
