I've been lurking on this website for a few years now and finally decided to register about a month ago.
I just wanted to say HI and thank you all for this community. I've found so many helpful things already and my journey has just begun. Great support/inspiration/dose of reality.
So far... Thanks!
___________ A little about me...if you like___________
I am an ex-science teacher in the process of relocating to Raleigh-Durham and soon to be pursuing my CNA and remaining prereqs for nursing school. My original degree was in biological sciences. I've had a love for all things medical since I was a child. I shadowed two nurses at my small local hospital when I was sixteen. I originally wanted to go to medical school but somewhere along the way made my back up plan be my main plan. I forgot why I was going to school because I was wrapped up in the process of going to school.
After teaching for awhile, I realized my heart wasn't in it and I couldn't fake it. I love all things biological and I am especially fascinated by the human body. As far as nursing goes, I've considered this career path for several years now and looked into other care positions. None of them pull me in quite like the idea of nursing. Although, I'm going to make doubly sure this is what I want before I invest into another degree. I really like the role nurses play in a care setting and the many specialties open nurses.
I know getting a job won't be easy but I have a few years before that happens. I want to be a nurse possibly in the psychiatric or surgical fields but I'm not against other specialties (well L&D kinda makes me cringe). Love to watch plastic surgeries but birth is like something out of a horror movie
As for the route, ABSN/BSN/ADN + RN-BSN...Who knows
