I have been reading these boards off and on for a couple of years now, and today I decided to introduce myself.
My name is Nancy and I am a geriatric nurse mostly. I was a CNA for about 4 years, then I became an LPN for 20 years, and now I have been an RN for 4 years. I have always worked in longterm care. I really enjoy older people. At the present time I work for the County Health Department, but I am contracted to the Aging and Disability Resource Center. I do case management with another nurse and a group of 10 social workers. We all work with the Community Options Program. This program is designed to provide funding for services for older people and disabled people with a financial and medical need. The object is to keep them in their homes or apartments instead of nursing homes. We are even able to fund CBRF's and group homes.
I love this job it is so satisfying!
On a personal note I am married and have 4 children, and a wonderful daughter in law who is going to make me a grandmother in October.
I also have a per diem job in a factory medical office on Saturdays.
Okay, now I am done.
