Though not a nurse, I am involved as a planner and grant writer in addressing the needs of nurses and their role in federally qualified community health centers.
Being a creative team player is key when working with low-income families, many of the adults lacking health insurance and unable to afford healthcare.
We are working on a new project called "Centering Pregnancy," which has been sponsored by the March of Dimes to transform the office visits into a group educational experience for 10-12 expectant moms with with babies of similar gestational ages in a facilitative discussion environment.
This experience could be very empowering for women and can facilitate significant bonding relationships.
